What a great question to consider. We live in a world that applauds beauty. After all, beauty attracts the eye. When there is a thing of beauty we stop and take notice. We are drawn to a person of beauty…at least momentarily. So we spend crazy amounts of time and money trying to achieve beauty. All one has to do is look at the dollars being generated in the cosmetics and skin care industries to see that this is true. Yes, we all want to achieve beauty. I know I do! I stress over every wrinkle and flaw just as many of you probably do, and I too get sucked into buying all the products that promise to make me look younger in minutes only to be disappointed when they don’t…We put tremendous emphasis on exterior beauty. The irony is that no matter how much effort we put into achieving beauty, it will always fade.

However, “beautiful”, well that is something that goes on forever. Beautiful doesn’t fade because beautiful isn’t based on looks at all. In fact I have seen many people who have tremendous beauty on the exterior, yet who do not fit the description of “Beautiful” because ultimately beautiful has nothing to do with a person’s looks. Beautiful is all about how you are as a person and how you make others feel about themselves. Where beauty starts on the outside, “beautiful” is something that radiates from the inside outward. Beautiful is what is reflected from a person’s soul. Beautiful is something that doesn’t require expensive products to achieve. In fact, achieving beautiful doesn’t cost any money at all.

When you see a truly beautiful person you know it. They radiate this glow of happiness. Their eyes sparkle. They are kind and generous and loving. They lift others up. They are giving of their time and talents to help others. They have integrity. They have character. They are unaware of their looks. They light up a room when they enter it. They are optimistic and they see the good around them. They are grateful. They are happy. They are always wearing a smile. And despite their age, or their size, or outfit, or the number of wrinkles they have, they are beautiful 100% of the time.

Who wouldn’t want that?? Yet, the question has to be asked – Do we put as much effort into being beautiful as we do in trying to become a thing of beauty? That is definitely a question to give some thought to.

“You are not your bra-size nor are you the width of your waist, nor are you the slenderness of your calves. You are not your hair color, your skin color, nor are you a shade of lipstick. Your shoe-size is of no consequence. You are not defined by the amount of attention you get from males, females, or any combination thereof. You are not the number of sit-ups you can do nor are you the number of calories in a day. You are not your mustache. You are not the hair on your legs. You are not a little red dress. You are no amalgam of these things.

You are the content of your character. You are the ambitions that drive you. You are the goals that you set. You are the things that you laugh at and the words that you say. You are the thoughts you think and the things you wonder. You are beautiful and desirable not for the clique you attend, but for the spark of life within you that compels you to make your life a full and meaningful one. You are beautiful not for the shape of the vessel, but for the volume of the soul it carries.”

Have a fantastic Monday everyone! This is the start of an amazing new week, and the perfect time to focus on being a beautiful person.

~Amy

If the world was blind how many people would you impress?
