But every year I admit that, I along with everyone else, wait to hear whether Phil saw his shadow or not. It never fails to bum me out when he sees his shadow and predicts six more weeks of winter. The truth is that I am just NOT a winter girl. Sure, I love winter in December because it signifies a White Christmas and romance and snowmen, but the second Christmas ends I am all about wanting it to be Spring already. I LOVE springtime and everything it brings. I love the sunshine and short sleeves and flip flops and flowers and the knowledge that boating season is just around the corner. I love the sunshine! And I DO NOT like being cold…not even a little bit! So hearing we have six more weeks of winter ahead of us was a big bummer….

One great lesson I learned from my daughter Ashley is that most of our lives we have to be ready to make our own sunshine. In fact there is a song called “I make my own sunshine” by Alyssa Bonagura that we dedicated to her because it describes her personality to a T (listen to that song – the lyrics are awesome!). Ashley is one of those people who makes her own sunshine everywhere she goes in life and it is why so many people love and adore her. She sees the good in everything and she is the first person to find a happy perspective on every situation. She truly makes her own sunshine wherever she goes.

That song is the best song to start your day off. In fact I decided today to make it my alarm song to wake me up on my iphone each day because it is the perfect way to remind myself that today can be whatever I choose it to be and I can make my own sunshine if I choose to. You seriously have to take two minutes out of your day today to listen to this song and read the lyrics as it plays – it is SO WORTH IT! I promise it will brighten your entire day!! Just hit play below and get ready to smile and bob your head and before you know it you will be dancing around the room:

See, I told you you’d love it!! Well all I can say to Winter is to go ahead and last for six more weeks cause I’m gonna make my own sunshine anyway!!!

Have a bright sunshiny day everyone!

~Amy

With all of the amazing technology we employ today it’s amazing the credibility we attribute to the shadow of a little brown rodent each Groundhog Day.
