Talk about a major reminder of why we need to focus our own lives on being the best person we can possibly be by living each day trying to exemplify the characteristics of integrity, kindness, charity, grace, and love. All that matters in this life is the way that we have lived it… not the money we make, or the title we have, or the things we amass…rather it`s the service that we did for others, the kindness we showed to others…it`s the way we attempted to lift others up and helped others to shine.

So often in life we tend to compare ourselves to someone else. We treat life like it’s a big contest to see who can be the most beautiful or have the most money or status or things, when really what life is supposed to be about is how we live our life with integrity, love, and charity. The contest is supposed to be about how we are personally measuring up to the true potential that we have within ourselves to achieve. It’s not person A against person B, its person A against the best that person A can become. And the “what we are supposed to become” is a GOOD PERSON. A kind person. A caring person. A person of integrity. A person of honor. A person of grace. A person who does the right thing at all times and in all circumstances.

As we try to be the best we can be, we should also be happy for the good fortune of others rather than feeling envious or hurt that the same didn’t come to us. Jeffrey Holland gave a great talk in which he said “We are not diminished when someone else is added upon.” I love that quote. He went on to say “coveting, pouting, or tearing others down does not elevate your standing, nor does demeaning someone else improve your self-image. So be kind and be grateful that God is kind. It is a happy way to live.”

When our time comes to leave this life I believe that not one of us will die feeling proud of ourselves for what we look like or how much we had when we died, rather I believe that what would make us proud in that moment is the way we conducted ourselves and the people whose lives we touched and the way we treated our loved ones. And while we are still here on earth we should remember that it’s never to late to change for the better so we best get going at it!

Have an amazing weekend everyone!

~Amy

As long as we are still alive it’s never too late to change our
