It’s incredible how fast time flies in a day when you are scrambling to get things done, and it is so frustrating to get to the end of a crazy busy day and feel like you only accomplished like 5% of what you had hoped you would. Yikes!

“Life has many ways of testing a person’s will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen at once.” -Paulo Coehlo

I am currently in the “everything happening at once” phase of life where the things happening have strict deadlines when I need to have things done, and this last few weeks I have felt like I am barely keeping my head above water. So much so that tonight I found myself feeling completely worn out and totally discouraged. Then I came across this quote:

“You don’t drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.” –Edwin Louis Cole

That quote was exactly what I needed to hear tonight. It made me step back from everything and recognize that I am making more progress than I am giving myself credit for and that I AM capable of getting everything done that I need to if I just keep doing my best and continue moving forward.

What slows us down in life is that feeling of discouragement that sneaks in to our heads and starts to overwhelm us with feeling of “I can’t do this”, “I’m not good enough”, “it will never come together”, “it’s impossible”! It’s like these little voices that start talking in your head and before you know it they have become the lead singers in the concert in your head. They are all you can hear!

The solution is to drown them out with positive thoughts – sort of like the battle rounds of the TV Show The Voice where the singer cuts the other one off and belts out a tune. That’s what you have to do with those voices in your head. Make the positive voice sing louder and stronger than the negative voices.

And more than anything we need to keep this in mind: “Sometimes when we get overwhelmed, we forget how big God is.” And there is no shame in getting on your knees and asking for His help to get everything done. It’s actually the smartest thing you can do – after all, who is more capable of helping than Him?? 🙂

Have a fabulous day!

~Amy

Why is it that time seems to go slowly when you have nothing important to do, but then when you have an overwhelming number of things to do time speeds by at a ridiculous rate?!
