It is a tradition we never miss doing. And every year in the back of my mind there is something I am truly grateful for on Thanksgiving, but I\u2019m always too embarrassed to say it out loud, but this year I am going to own it\u2026this year I say \u201cThank Heaven for Stretchy Pants!!!\u201d I couldn\u2019t survive Thanksgiving dinner without them!<\/p>\n<p>A few years ago I shared a Thanksgiving poem that I love so much I just had to share it again because it totally supports my appreciation of stretchy pants. It&#8217;s called T&#8217;was The Night of Thanksgiving:<\/p>\n<p>T\u2019was the night of Thanksgiving,<\/p>\n<p>But I just couldn\u2019t sleep.<\/p>\n<p>I tried counting backwards,<\/p>\n<p>I tried counting sheep.<\/p>\n<p>The leftovers beckoned,<\/p>\n<p>The dark meat and white.<\/p>\n<p>But I fought the temptation,<\/p>\n<p>With all of my might.<\/p>\n<p>Tossing and turning,<\/p>\n<p>with anticipation.<\/p>\n<p>The thought of a snack<\/p>\n<p>became infatuation.<\/p>\n<p>So I raced to the kitchen,<\/p>\n<p>Flung open the door,<\/p>\n<p>And gazed at the fridge,<\/p>\n<p>Full of goodies galore.<\/p>\n<p>I gobbled up turkey,<\/p>\n<p>And buttered potatoes,<\/p>\n<p>Pickles and carrots,<\/p>\n<p>Beans and tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p>I felt myself swelling,<\/p>\n<p>So plump and so round.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018til all of a sudden,<\/p>\n<p>I rose off the ground.<\/p>\n<p>I crashed through the ceiling,<\/p>\n<p>Floating into the sky,<\/p>\n<p>With a mouthful of pudding,<\/p>\n<p>And a handful of pie.<\/p>\n<p>But I managed to yell<\/p>\n<p>As I soared past the trees<\/p>\n<p>Happy eating to all,<\/p>\n<p>Pass the cranberries, please!!<\/p>\n<p>May your stuffing be tasty<\/p>\n<p>May your turkey be plump.<\/p>\n<p>May your potatoes and gravy<\/p>\n<p>Have nary a lump.<\/p>\n<p>May your yams be delicious,<\/p>\n<p>May your pies take the prize<\/p>\n<p>And May your Thanksgiving dinner<\/p>\n<p>Stay off of your thighs!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\">-Lauren<\/p>\n<p>To all of you I say \u201cHAPPY THANKGIVING!\u201d May your holiday be full of loving family and friends, and incredibly delicious food, and a really, really comfortable pair of stretchy pants!<\/p>\n<p>I will be back to post on Sunday night as I take the holiday off from writing my blog so I can focus on my family.
