Each Thanksgiving we go around the dinner table and share what we are grateful for that year. It is a tradition we never miss doing. And every year in the back of my mind there is something I am truly grateful for on Thanksgiving, but I\u2019m always too embarrassed to say it out loud, but this year I am going to own it\u2026this year I say \u201cThank Heaven for Stretchy Pants!!!\u201d I couldn\u2019t survive Thanksgiving dinner without them!<\/p>\n
A few years ago I shared a Thanksgiving poem that I love so much I just had to share it again because it totally supports my appreciation of stretchy pants. It’s called T’was The Night of Thanksgiving:<\/p>\n
T\u2019was the night of Thanksgiving,<\/p>\n
But I just couldn\u2019t sleep.<\/p>\n
I tried counting backwards,<\/p>\n
I tried counting sheep.<\/p>\n
The leftovers beckoned,<\/p>\n
The dark meat and white.<\/p>\n
But I fought the temptation,<\/p>\n
With all of my might.<\/p>\n
Tossing and turning,<\/p>\n
with anticipation.<\/p>\n
The thought of a snack<\/p>\n
became infatuation.<\/p>\n
So I raced to the kitchen,<\/p>\n
Flung open the door,<\/p>\n
And gazed at the fridge,<\/p>\n
Full of goodies galore.<\/p>\n
I gobbled up turkey,<\/p>\n
And buttered potatoes,<\/p>\n
Pickles and carrots,<\/p>\n
Beans and tomatoes.<\/p>\n
I felt myself swelling,<\/p>\n
So plump and so round.<\/p>\n
\u2018til all of a sudden,<\/p>\n
I rose off the ground.<\/p>\n
I crashed through the ceiling,<\/p>\n
Floating into the sky,<\/p>\n
With a mouthful of pudding,<\/p>\n
And a handful of pie.<\/p>\n
But I managed to yell<\/p>\n
As I soared past the trees<\/p>\n
Happy eating to all,<\/p>\n
Pass the cranberries, please!!<\/p>\n
May your stuffing be tasty<\/p>\n
May your turkey be plump.<\/p>\n
May your potatoes and gravy<\/p>\n
Have nary a lump.<\/p>\n
May your yams be delicious,<\/p>\n
May your pies take the prize<\/p>\n
And May your Thanksgiving dinner<\/p>\n
Stay off of your thighs!<\/p>\n
