That is why it can be especially hard to make big decisions that come up in our lives.

Anytime I have a big decision to make in life I think to myself “It would be so much easier if God would just TELL ME what he wants me to do” because then I could just go do it! But then I remember that God doesn’t make our decisions and choices for us – he sent us here to learn to make decisions for ourselves….which kinda sucks sometimes…because gosh darn it, it would be SO MUCH EASIER if he just did it for us!!! #realtalk

I am guessing some of you reading this can totally relate to those feelings of dread you get when it comes to making big life decisions. It’s like we get stuck on the “What If” bus where we sit and think through all the “What if” scenarios that might occur if we choose option A versus option B and then what if there is an option C we haven’t even considered yet??? Then what?!?! And before you know it the “What If” bus has you headed down a black tunnel with no light at the other end. It truly is a horrible feeling.

In a previous post called 6 steps to making good decisions I laid out the process I try to follow when I need to make a big decision and those steps definitely help me, but I can’t pretend it’s ever really easy to make those decisions because it’s not. But what I can say for sure is that once you’ve laid out the pros and cons of your options you absolutely have to avoid letting yourself become a passenger on that “What If” bus. You have to be willing to lay out the options and then after allowing yourself a reasonable amount of time for considering things you have to call it and cut off any more thought or discussion of “What if”. DO NOT get on that bus! Make the choice and move forward with confidence that because you tried your best to do the right thing that things will turn out as they should in the end.

“Decisions. We can think about things, turn them over in our minds a million times, play out possible scenarios, but really when it comes down to it, you have to go with your heart and move forward. Maybe things will go well. Maybe they’ll turn out poorly. Every decision brings with it some good, some bad, some lessons, and some luck. The only thing that’s for sure is that indecision steals many years from many people who wind up wishing they’d just had the courage to leap.” -Doe Zantamata

May we all have the courage to leap!

~Amy

We are all familiar with the quote “Decisions determine destiny” and I genuinely believe that is the case.
