{"id":6614,"date":"2016-04-28T18:00:46","date_gmt":"2016-04-29T00:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=6614"},"modified":"2016-05-25T23:08:24","modified_gmt":"2016-05-26T05:08:24","slug":"make-pearls-from-sand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/make-pearls-from-sand\/","title":{"rendered":"Make Pearls from Sand"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #993366;\">The Oyster Story<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">There once was an oyster whose story I tell,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Who found that some sand had got into his shell.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> It was only a grain, but it gave him great pain.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> For oysters have feelings although they\u2019re so plain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Now, did he berate the harsh working of fate<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Which had brought him to such a deplorable state?<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Did he curse at others, or blame them for his election,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Or claim that the sea should have given him protection?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> No \u2013 as he lay on the shelf he said to himself,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Since I cannot remove it, I shall try to improve it.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Now the years have rolled around, as the years always do,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> And he came to his ultimate destiny \u2013 stew.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> And the small grain of sand that had bothered him so<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> Had become a beautiful pearl, richly aglow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Now the tale has a moral; for isn\u2019t it grand<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> What an oyster can do with a morsel of sand?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">What couldn\u2019t we do if we\u2019d only begin<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"> With all of the things that get under our skin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px;\"><em>Author: Unknown<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Often in life we get so called \u2018grains of sand\u2019 that get under our skin and if we allow them to they will frustrate us, annoy us, anger us, or even discourage us. Maybe it\u2019s something about a situation that is causing us angst. Maybe it\u2019s something about another person in our life that is rubbing us wrong. Maybe it is something about ourselves we don\u2019t like and it is constantly getting us down\u2026. No matter what the grain of sand is that has gotten under our skin, if we stay aware of our feelings and notice when something is getting to us in a negative way, we can make the choice to look at the situation through a different perspective\u2026we can find a way to turn the grain of sand into something beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, improving some difficult things may take years to accomplish, but the sooner we start working on improving them the faster we will make it happen. The key is to begin\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Remember that no matter how difficult things become we always have a choice on how we view it. We control our attitude and our attitude controls our emotions.
