As we do, our own lives will be blessed as well. I love the following poem because its a great reminder to stay humble and recognize that our gifts are just an instrument to be used for the good of others &#8211; it&#8217;s not about us, its about the people we serve:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The Torch Bearer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe God of the High Endeavor<br \/>\nGave me a torch to bear.<br \/>\nI lifted it high above me<br \/>\nIn the dark and murky air;<\/p>\n<p>And straightway with loud hosannas<br \/>\nThe crowd proclaimed its light<br \/>\nAnd followed me as I carried my torch<br \/>\nThrough the starless night,<\/p>\n<p>Till drunk with people\u2019s praises<br \/>\nAnd mad with vanity<br \/>\nI forgot \u2019twas the torch they followed<br \/>\nAnd fancied they followed me.<\/p>\n<p>Then slowly my arm grew weary<br \/>\nUpholding the shining load<br \/>\nAnd my tired feet went stumbling<br \/>\nOver the dusty road.<\/p>\n<p>I fell with the torch beneath me.<br \/>\nIn a moment the light was out.<br \/>\nWhen lo! from the throng a stripling<br \/>\nSprang forth with a mighty shout,<\/p>\n<p>Caught up the torch as it smoldered,<br \/>\nAnd lifted it high again,<br \/>\nTill fanned by the winds of heaven,<br \/>\nIt fired the souls of men.<\/p>\n<p>And as I lay in the darkness<br \/>\nThe feet of the trampling crowd<br \/>\nPassed over and far beyond me,<br \/>\nIts paeans proclaimed around,<\/p>\n<p>And I learned in the deepening twilight<br \/>\nThis glorious verity,<br \/>\n\u2018Tis the torch that the people follow,<br \/>\nWhoever the bearer may be.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 180px;\">\u00a0\u2014Author unknown<\/p>\n<p>Have a wonderful start to your week!<\/p>\n<p>~Amy Rees Anderson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each of us have been born with special talents that God gave us so we might use them to benefit the lives of others.
