Each of us have been born with special talents that God gave us so we might use them to benefit the lives of others. As we do, our own lives will be blessed as well. I love the following poem because its a great reminder to stay humble and recognize that our gifts are just an instrument to be used for the good of others – it’s not about us, its about the people we serve:<\/p>\n

\nThe God of the High Endeavor
\nGave me a torch to bear.
\nI lifted it high above me
\nIn the dark and murky air;<\/p>\n
\nThe crowd proclaimed its light
\nAnd followed me as I carried my torch
\nThrough the starless night,<\/p>\n
\nAnd mad with vanity
\nI forgot \u2019twas the torch they followed
\nAnd fancied they followed me.<\/p>\n
\nUpholding the shining load
\nAnd my tired feet went stumbling
\nOver the dusty road.<\/p>\n
\nIn a moment the light was out.
\nWhen lo! from the throng a stripling
\nSprang forth with a mighty shout,<\/p>\n
\nAnd lifted it high again,
\nTill fanned by the winds of heaven,
\nIt fired the souls of men.<\/p>\n
\nThe feet of the trampling crowd
\nPassed over and far beyond me,
