Hearing that advice had a big impact on my life because I believed it and I tried to never allow myself to think or say it when it came to my business life and I am convinced it made a difference for me. Can\u2019t is a dangerous word because it destroys our courage to try.\u00a0 I love this poem about the word \u201ccan\u2019t\u201d\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t is the worst word that&#8217;s written or spoken<br \/>\nDoing more harm here than slander and lies;<br \/>\nOn it is many a strong spirit broken,<br \/>\nAnd with it many a good purpose dies.<br \/>\nIt springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning<br \/>\nAnd robs us of courage we need through the day:<br \/>\nIt rings in our ears like a timely-sent warning<br \/>\nAnd laughs when we falter and fall by the way.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t is the father of feeble endeavor,<br \/>\nThe parent of terror and half-hearted work;<br \/>\nIt weakens the efforts of artisans clever,<br \/>\nAnd makes of the toiler an indolent shirk.<br \/>\nIt poisons the soul of the man with a vision,<br \/>\nIt stifles in infancy many a plan;<br \/>\nIt greets honest toiling with open derision<br \/>\nAnd mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t is a word none should speak without blushing;<br \/>\nTo utter it should be a symbol of shame;<br \/>\nAmbition and courage it daily is crushing;<br \/>\nIt blights a man&#8217;s purpose and shortens his aim.<br \/>\nDespise it with all of your hatred of error;<br \/>\nRefuse it the lodgment it seeks in your brain;<br \/>\nArm against it as a creature of terror,<br \/>\nAnd all that you dream of you some day shall gain.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t is the word that is foe to ambition,<br \/>\nAn enemy ambushed to shatter your will;<br \/>\nIts prey is forever the man with a mission<br \/>\nAnd bows but to courage and patience and skill.<br \/>\nHate it, with hatred that&#8217;s deep and undying,<br \/>\nFor once it is welcomed &#8217;twill break any man;<br \/>\nWhatever the goal you are seeking, keep trying<br \/>\nAnd answer this demon by saying: \u201cI can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Have an adventurous, courageous day everyone!<\/p>\n<p>~Amy Rees Anderson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Someone once told me that the moment you either think or say the words \u201cI can\u2019t\u201d you\u2019ve lost, so never to do it.
