And today I’m guessing that is exactly how a lot of us felt. I know I did!

It started when I woke up this morning and discovered I had completely FORGOTTEN it was going to be daylight savings and that I was going to lose an entire hour during the night! Not only did I forget, but I woke up an hour later than I was supposed to so I was late to church. Now you are probably thinking how my phone would have automatically changed to the new time zone, and you are right, but my body did NOT automatically change so I slept right through my alarm on my phone when it went off.

It’s moments like that when you know it’s going to be a rough day….

The positive that came from today’s experience was the renewed appreciation it gave me for the value of just one hour and how losing just one hour can completely throw off your entire day.

To Realize The Value of Time

To realize the value of one year, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of one month, as a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one day, ask a daily wage laborer with kids to feed.

To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute, ask the person who missed the plane.

To realize the value of one second, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Losing just that one hour today really did make a huge difference in everything about my day. And our time, once lost, is gone and forever and nothing we do can ever get it back for us. So it’s up to us to value each second of the time we are given and never take it for granted.

Today I was reminded that time truly is our most precious resource.
