Luck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With St. Patrick&#8217;s Day around the corner and the thoughts of good luck and fortune I thought today I would touch on the subject of hard luck because all of us have had those times we have felt sorry for ourselves thinking all the bad luck in the world comes our way.\u00a0But as this poem by\u00a0one of my favorite poets\u00a0named Edgar Allen Guest reminds us &#8211;\u00a0we all have to go through our share of hard luck in life so we shouldn&#8217;t wallow in self-pity but rather we should recognize we all struggle at different times and different ways\u00a0 &#8211; we have all been there.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">HARD LUCK<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ain\u2019t no use as I can see<\/p>\n<p>In sittin\u2019 underneath a tree<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 growlin\u2019 that your luck is bad,<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 that your life is extry sad;<\/p>\n<p>Your life ain\u2019t sadder than your neighbor\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>Nor any harder are your labors;<\/p>\n<p>It rains on him the same as you,<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 he has work he hates to do;<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 he gits tired an\u2019 he gits cross,<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 he has trouble with the boss;<\/p>\n<p>You take his whole life, through an\u2019 through,<\/p>\n<p>Why, he\u2019s no better off than you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If whinin\u2019 brushed the clouds away<\/p>\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t have a word to say;<\/p>\n<p>If it made good friends out o\u2019 foes<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d whine a bit, too, I suppose;<\/p>\n<p>But when I look around an\u2019 see<\/p>\n<p>A lot o\u2019 men resemblin\u2019 me,<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 see \u2019em sad, an\u2019 see \u2019em gay<\/p>\n<p>With work t\u2019 do most every day,<\/p>\n<p>Some full o\u2019 fun, some bent with care,<\/p>\n<p>Some havin\u2019 troubles hard to bear,<\/p>\n<p>I reckon, as I count my woes,<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re \u2019bout what everybody knows.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The day I find a man who\u2019ll say<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s never known a rainy day,<\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019ll raise his right hand up an\u2019 swear<\/p>\n<p>In forty years he\u2019s had no care,<\/p>\n<p>Has never had a single blow,<\/p>\n<p>An\u2019 never known one touch o\u2019 woe,<\/p>\n<p>Has never seen a loved one die,<\/p>\n<p>Has never wept or heaved a sigh,<\/p>\n<p>Has never had a plan go wrong,<\/p>\n<p>But allas laughed his way along;<\/p>\n<p>Then I\u2019ll sit down an\u2019 start to whine<\/p>\n<p>That all the hard luck here is mine.<\/p>\n<p>~Amy Rees
