Last night someone I deeply care about was having a really hard day as they were dealing with some really hard decisions that they needed to make.\u00a0 It tore my heart out to see someone I love hurting. I wished so badly that I had a way to wave a magic wand and make all the hurt and sadness go away. But I couldn\u2019t. All I could do was offer a shoulder to cry on and a hug, which felt inadequate. I said a prayer for them and went to bed sad that they were sad.<\/p>\n
Then today I came across this quote<\/p>\n
\u201cIf today is the worst day of your life then you know tomorrow will be better.\u201d<\/span> \u2013 Disney\u2019s The Lion King<\/p>\n Sometimes the magic solution to feeling better is simply to have a wider perspective. What feels horrible today may someday feel like the biggest miracle that took place in your life. Something that didn\u2019t go as you\u2019d hoped for may actually be the very thing that is setting you up to have the happiest things ever!<\/p>\n I know this because that has happened to me time and time again in my life. One business deal didn\u2019t work out only to lead me to the best business deal I could ever imagine. Without the first disappointment the second blessing would never have happened. One marriage didn\u2019t work out which led me to finding and marrying the perfect man for me. Time and time again this has happened in my life\u2026so many times, in fact, that it would be impossible to list them all.<\/p>\n We can\u2019t get all we aren\u2019t meant to have until we are willing to let go of the things that aren\u2019t meant to be ours.<\/p>\n Letting go of something you wanted can be brutal. It\u2019s hard to know that the pictures you had in your head for your future won\u2019t turn out exactly as you thought they would. But be willing to widen your perspective. Choose to recognize that the future God has planned for you is a much bigger masterpiece than any picture you could have drawn with your limited information today.
