{"id":8831,"date":"2018-01-29T17:00:53","date_gmt":"2018-01-29T23:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=8831"},"modified":"2018-01-26T00:27:56","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T06:27:56","slug":"just-think-of-the-things-you-are-glad-that-youre-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/just-think-of-the-things-you-are-glad-that-youre-not\/","title":{"rendered":"Just Think Of The Things You Are Glad That You\u2019re Not"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">When my luck seems all gone, and I\u2019m down in the mouth,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">When I\u2019m stuck in the north and I want to go south;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">When the world seems a blank and there\u2019s no one to love,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">And it seems even God\u2019s not in heaven above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">I\u2019ve a cure for my grouch and it works like a shot,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">I just think of the things I am glad that I am not:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A bird in a cage, a fish in a bowl<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A pig in a pen, a fox in a hole<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A bear in a pit, a wolf in a trap<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A fowl on a spit, a rug on a lap<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A horse in a stable, a cow in a shed<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A plate on a table, a sheet on a bed<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A case on a pillow, a bell on a door<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A branch on a willow, a mat on the floor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Then my blues disappear when I think what I\u2019ve got,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">And quite soon I\u2019ve forgotten the things I have not,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">When I think of the hundreds of things I might be,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">I get down on my knees and thank God that I\u2019m me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 210px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 -Elsie Janis<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What a great way to keep from feeling sorry for ourselves! Just think about all of the things we are glad we are not!<\/p>\n<p>Our lives could be so much worse than they are, and heaven knows we could all have it so much worse than we currently do.
