I’ve been working on planning her wedding for months but it’s getting down to the wire with only a few weeks left until her big day. Under normal circumstances planning a wedding is hard enough, but it just so happens that her wedding day is happening one week after a big week long board retreat I am responsible for with the University Board I am chairman of, so there are days it feels impossible to be on top of these two big events.

Someone heard about these two big events I have responsibility for back to back and they made the comment that it is impossible to pull both of these huge events off at the same time My first instinct was to agree with them, but then I found that “don’t tell me what I can’t do” rebellious part of me wanting to shout out “The person who says something is impossible should not interrupt the person who is doing it!” But thankfully I contained that shouting to my inner voice and I simply smiled and said they were right.

Now as I sit here at my computer again tonight working past 2:00am I keep thinking to myself, “That person was right – this really is impossible!!” But impossible isn’t really an option in this situation because both of these events are going to happen and they are both counting on me to come through on them, so I’m gonna stop wasting another second talking about it and I’m going to just keep working my guts out, giving it my very best effort to ensure they are both going to be unforgettable events.

I CAN DO THIS!

In order to encourage myself to keep going when I feel like I’m facing the impossible, I reminding myself that I’ve been able to pull off the seemingly impossible plenty of times before so I know just how possible it is to do that. I tell myself I am Wonder Woman and I can do anything I set my mind do. And I think of how I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by great people who are absolutely willing to help whenever I ask them. And finally I consistently remind myself that MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! Especially when we are giving something our all. I’ve seen them happen more times than I can count. So I know anything is possible.

Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done. Simply smile at them and get out there and just do it!

~Amy Rees Anderson

“The person who says something is impossible should not interrupt the person who is doing it.” -unknown This weekend I was heads down working my guts out on my daughter Ashley’s upcoming wedding.
