{"id":9168,"date":"2018-05-01T19:26:53","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T01:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=9168"},"modified":"2018-05-01T19:27:20","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T01:27:20","slug":"stop-overthinking-it-and-start-doing-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/stop-overthinking-it-and-start-doing-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop Overthinking It and Start Doing It!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We always have the ability to freak ourselves out with those thoughts of \u201cI can\u2019t do it\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m not good enough to handle it\u201d or \u201cthis is impossible\u201d or \u201cit can\u2019t be done\u201d\u2026.one of the easiest things in the world is to convince ourselves that we shouldn\u2019t even try\u2026\u00a0 Heck, if I had really stopped and thought about how hard most of the things I set my mind to accomplish were going to be in advance of committing myself to doing them &#8211; I would never have taken them on!\u00a0 Cause I would have been crazy to even try most of them considering all the difficulties I would have to face to get through them! And yet by taking them on and then just plowing forward to make them happen it\u2019s allowed me to accomplish so many things that I now look back on and go, \u201cI can\u2019t believe I was able to do that!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I don\u2019t allow myself to stop and overthink things in advance of committing to do them, because I know if I ever did I would talk myself right out of them, and then I would have never found out what I am capable of.<\/p>\n<p>Now that being said, there are many days when I\u2019m in the thick of trying to do things that I think I must have been absolutely out of my mind to take this or that on and believe I could actually handle it all. There are days I feel totally overwhelmed and inadequate. \u00a0But when those days come I force myself to stop and take a deep breath and I remind myself that whenever I\u2019ve given something my absolute best effort, that somehow, some way, things always seem to work out in the end\u2026.and then I keep on moving forward\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Stop overthinking things. Stop giving yourself time to come up with all the reasons why something can\u2019t be done, or why something isn\u2019t possible, or why you shouldn\u2019t even try, and just GO FOR IT!\u00a0 \u00a0Don\u2019t give yourself an out. Commit!\u00a0 And force yourself to have the mindset that you CAN do this, somehow, some way, and don\u2019t let your mind even consider that it won\u2019t come together.
