The role of Mother requires us to wear so many hats – a teacher, a nurse, a taxi driver, a housekeeper, a cook, a plumber, a therapist, a hair stylist, a potty trainer, a personal shopper, an expert sleuth capable of finding socks and backpacks and homework and everything else the kids misplace, a financial planner, a secret keeper, a tutor, a waitress, a handyman, a cheerleader, a seamstress, a bodyguard, a personal secretary, an ATM, and a wedding planner…just to name a few … The roles a mother must take on are never ending…and although the pay isn’t great and the hours are brutal, my job of Mother is the most meaningful role I have ever held.

I was blessed beyond measure to have an amazing Mother myself who set the example for me of what it means to love unconditionally. I watched her sacrifice her own wants and needs for that of her children time and time again. There has never been a moment I have had to question if my Mother loves me and for that I feel so incredibly blessed.

And to all those Mothers who wonder, as I do, if we have been enough or done enough for our children, I love the words of Jeffrey R.
