Despite this being a year where the last thing I want to hear about, read about, or talk about is politics, I felt it important to bring something up. Don’t worry – I’m not going to try and tell anyone which candidates to vote for Tuesday as I feel that is a deeply personal decision one must make per the dictates of their own conscious – but I am going to remind everyone of just how blessed we are to have the right to vote. 

The right to vote is not one that came easily.  Countless people fought and died so that we can vote to elect our leaders.  It is a privilege to have the freedom to cast our votes for whomever we believe will be the best leaders of this great nation.   And when we fail to cast our vote we are forgetting that voting IS OUR opportunity to protect our FREEDOM.

The price of our freedom has been far too high for any of us to take it for granted, and the consequence of non-participation in our right to vote is far too great for any of us to ignore.

In casting our vote, we have the unique opportunity to exercise power in the endeavor to elect the best person to serve “we the people”. And our system of government will only be as good as the people we elect to run it. 

I hope everyone will exercise their right to vote in tomorrow’s election. Driving to the voting booth and standing in line for an hour or so is a very small price to pay for freedom.  So please make the effort to vote. And may we vote for candidates who can be trusted to uphold our constitution and all that our founding fathers fought so bravely to create.
