The Light of Hope Still Shines, Even in 2020

With the craziness of traveling to Washington DC over the Thanksgiving holiday and returning home and immediately jumping on an all day zoom session of meetings and then speaking on a panel at a University, I hadn’t even noticed that the month of December had begun…

Then I saw that I’d gotten a text from a #LightTheWorld worldwide movement I’d joined a year ago in December that was meant to transform Christmas into a season of service by sending a daily text the first 25 days of December with a prompt of an act of service I could do each day. Reading the text flooded me with memories of how much I had loved participating in this movement last year…it made my entire Christmas season so much more meaningful! That made me super excited to see it was starting again this year!! Because doing the little acts of service each day didn’t just help light the world for those I’d served, it helped light the world for me most of all – honestly I got way more from doing the acts then I anyone did from receiving them. It honestly brought me so much joy and peace, which we could all use a dose of in droves right now given the craziness of 2020…and as this one minute video kicking off this years movement says, “Even in 2020, one of the darkest years of our lives, the light of hope still shines bright.”

Join in the movement with me! Just text the world LIGHT to 71234 and you will start receiving a daily service prompt text from now until Christmas (the texts stop on Christmas each year). You can also visit the www.lighttheworld.org website to sign up for emails and download a fun service calendar with ideas.

Let’s LIGHT UP DECEMBER!!!
