I Shall Use My Time

We only have a limited time on this earth and if we are not focused and attentive it will pass us by all too quickly and we won’t have accomplished all that we wished we would have. That’s why it’s so important to set goals for ourselves in life. By setting goals and planning out how we will achieve them we help narrow our focus and set us moving in the right direction. Then it’s up to us to make choices on how we are going to allocate our time.

“Most people sabotage themselves because they aren’t mindful in the moment. Let your daily actions be governed by your goals & dreams. Whenever you are making an important decision first ask if it gets you closer to your goals or farther away. If the answer is closer, pull the trigger. If it’s farther away make a different choice. Conscious choice making is a critical step in making your dreams a reality.” –Unknown

Yesterday I judged the Bench to Bedside healthcare innovation competition up at the Utah State Capitol. Seeing the amazing innovations the students from the engineering, business, and medical programs from the University of Utah come together to form new companies with innovative solutions in healthcare was awesome. It really goes to show the incredible things that people can do when they use their time wisely to focus on productive, impactful things. With focus and drive and dedication to using your time wisely you can accomplish incredible things.

Each of us can either waste our time away doing inconsequential things or we can use it wisely to help make our dreams into a reality, the choice is ours. But we have to stay mindful that by not making a conscious choice to stay focused, we end up wasting our precious time away. As Jack London said:

I would rather be ashes than dust;

I would rather that my sparks should burn out in a brilliant blaze than that it should be stifled by dry rot;

I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom in me a magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet;

The proper function of man is to live not to exist,

I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them,

I shall use my time.

Use your time wisely so when it comes to an end you’ll have no regrets. And have a GREAT DAY!
