Celebrating Daughters and Sons

To be honest I’d never even heard of a National Daughters Day until I saw a post on Facebook over the weekend from my Mother wishing her five daughters a happy National Daughters Day. I of course immediately googled it to find out what she was referring to.  Come to find out Friday September 25th was National Daughters Day and I missed it, but when I was googling it I found out today is actually International Daughters Day so I figured it’s not too late to wish my daughter happy Daughters Day!!!

As I was reading about Daughters Day online it occurred to me that I’d better also google National Sons Day so I didn’t miss that as well and lo and behold it told me tomorrow Sept 28th is National Sons Day…so its a good thing I checked! Because now I can wish my son a happy Sons Day as well!!!

The truth is I celebrate my daughter and son everyday – holiday or not. I am so proud of both of them for the wonderful people they are, for the values they both uphold, for the goals they’ve each set, and the things they continue to accomplish in their lives. They truly are two of the most incredible human beings I have ever had the privilege of knowing and I feel so lucky to be their Mother. I’m also grateful to them for marrying wonderful spouses because in doing so they’ve given me an awesome daughter-in-law and son-in-law I get to celebrate on this holiday as well.

The great joy of life is having amazing daughters and sons who start out as your children and grow up to become your most treasured friends.

Happy Daughters and Sons Day everyone! Thank you for the joy you bring to your parents lives.
