You Can’t Depend On Your Eyes When Your Imagination Is Out Of Focus

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” – Mark Twain

Just as you can’t trust your eyes when your imagination is out of focus, you can’t trust your emotions when your body is physically spent.  Sometimes we get moving so fast and furious through life that the terrain we are speeding through becomes nothing but a blur… I feel like that is how my life has been so far this year. I have been moving so fast through it that its becoming a blur.  I’ve been keeping such a ridiculous schedule, taking trip after trip, getting very little sleep, all of which has resulted in causing me to feel like my life has become a bit out of focus.

When we don’t take care of ourselves, when we don’t have that stability of a routine, when we don’t get enough sleep, or we run faster than we have strength, things are bound to get out of focus. Our emotions are heightened, our frustration levels deepen faster than they should, and feelings of discouragement and despair can start creeping in. There is nothing enjoyable about looking out the car window and seeing only a blur…if we want to enjoy the view we’ve got to slow down enough to see it. We’ve got to stop and get rest as we go so we can be refreshed and rejuvenated enough to enjoy the next days drive. Bottom line is if we want to be able to trust our heart and our mind we have to get our lives in focus.

Yesterday has already happened so there is no going back to change what’s already past, but we can choose to start fresh from here and go forward at a more appropriate pace. Taking the lessons we’ve learned and applying them to how we live our lives from today forward.

“Live out of your imagination instead of out of your memory.” – Les Brown

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
