How others see you isn’t important. How you see yourself is everything. What’s cool about that is you can replace the picture in your head of how you see yourself today with the picture of how you wish you were and then be that person! I use that trick all the time when I am feeling down about myself or when I am feeling afraid of something hard I need to do. I close my eyes and see myself turning into Wonder Woman and then I open my eyes and voila…I am her! I see myself as her to give me the confidence and courage I need to do what I need to and then when I finish that hard thing I let myself go back to being Amy again. Only I always find that when I return to being Amy again I do it with a little more confidence then I had before because I now know I was able to accomplish that hard thing I hadn’t thought I could do.
Try it – it’s a great confidence trick. And it’s one that really works. I’ve done it for years and it’s worked every time. And its easy enough that anyone can do it. Just figure out who your inner superhero wannabe persona is and give it a try. You’ll be amazed how much easier it is to do hard things when you have a tiara and a lasso like Wonder Woman, or when you have a cape and can leap tall buildings in a single bound like Superman.
Channel your inner superhero and conquer the universe! 🙂
