From A Cloud Of Depression Into The Sunshine

“To press on in noble endeavors, even while surrounded by a cloud of depression, will eventually bring you out on top into the sunshine. – Ezra Taft Benson

Ezra Taft Benson also suggests several things we can do to help pull us out of a cloud of depression and help bring us out into the sunshine:

“To lift our spirit and send us on our way rejoicing, the devil’s designs of despair, discouragement, depression, and despondency can be defeated in a dozen ways, namely: repentance, prayer, service, work, health, reading, blessings, fasting, friends, music, endurance, and goals.”

When I am down or depressed the best way I have found to pull myself out of it is to get busy pursuing positive endeavors. When I’m out serving others or when I’m working to accomplish a goal I find there’s no time for sorrow or sadness to creep into my life. My days fly by and I welcome sleep at night. Any clouds of depression are chased away by an abundance of sunshine and I am happy.

My daughter’s favorite saying is that Happiness Is A Choice, but I would add it’s a choice that also requires some action on our part to bring the happiness about. Choose to be happy by getting busy doing things that will help bring happiness about 🙂
