Celebrating Pioneer Day And A Legacy Of Faith

July 24th may be just a regular day for most of the world, but here in Utah it’s a State holiday called Pioneer Day when we celebrate the fact that on July 24, 1847, the Pioneers first arrived to settle the State of Utah.  If you are not familiar with the story of what these

Noble Virtues, Selfless Service, Self-Reliance, and Courage

WWII Veteran, and my Great Uncle, Melvin Dalton passed away last weekend just six days before his 96th birthday. Uncle Mel served in the U.S. Marine Corp on the USS California during World War II. Make Yourself A 2018 Key Highlights List

As this year is close to coming to an end, this is the perfect time to take a look back over this past year and write down key highlights list – sort of a year in review quick summary. Now don’t panic thinking this has to be a big writing project or that it will

Wisdom from a 94 year old WWII Veteran

Over the weekend my family and I traveled down to Moab, Utah to spend a little time together. We also went to go and visit my Great Uncle Mel Dalton (he is my Grandmother’s brother). My Great Uncle Mel is 94 years old and he has lived an incredible life. Over the last year I’ve

Writing Your Own Life Story – Pass it On

This weekend I received a copy of the life history of my Great Uncle Mel.   My Great Uncle Mel Dalton is in his 90’s living down in Moab, Utah and I have heard stories about him from the time I was a little girl.  He is the brother to my Grandmother, who was my best

Finding Out Who You Are By Learning Where You Came From

Figuring out who your ancestors are is one of the coolest things in the world.  I was lucky to have Grandparents who were big into doing genealogy research when they were still alive and they provided me life history books for their own lives as well as providing me life histories written by my great-grandparents

“To my children, their children, their children, and theirs’…”

That is the inscription on the back cover of my Grandmother’s life history book.   My grandmother passed away back in November of 2007.  She was one of my dearest friends.  And I am forever grateful that she left behind her written life history for me and for my children, and their children, and so on.
